China visa denied

I apologize if this has been asked before. I searched around but am having trouble finding an answer.

I have heard that people were denied their China Visa because they listed Lhasa as one of the cities they%26#39;d be visiting. They were traveling with a tour and the Tibet permit would have been obtained while in China.

Will your Chinese visa be denied if Lhasa is listed and you do not yet have a Tibet permit? Is it always better to just leave Lhasa off of the application for the Chinese visa?

Thanks so much!

It seems generally agreed that you should get into China mainland before mentioning anything about travelling to Tibetan regions. On your initial China visa application, just listing the city you plan to fly into is sufficient, then apply for the TTR once in China.

Thanks very much for the advice!

We are planning on flying to Beijing, flying to Lhasa and driving to Nepal, and then flying back to Beijing. We will be in Beijing one night at the end before flying back home.

Do we need to get a double entry or a multi-entry since we will be technically arriving in China twice?

Thanks.

Double entry. You will also need to get a Tibet permit when in China.

With the current fee structure, multi and single entry are both $130 for USA passport holders. I applied for a single entry 90-day visa last week, but received a multi-entry 1-year visa in return. Issued by the Embassey in DC.

US citizens applying in the US now get a 1-year multi-entry visa.

Alas, I learned the hard way that that is not necessarily the case. Even if you apply for a multi-entry, you might not receive it.
