Some tips on using ATM in China

This is a question probably every traveller in China may come across-

(Sometimes, it happens)

If, in any case, we go to a ATM to get some cash, and unfortunately, card is taken; or. no cash inside.

Other members here may have better answers, yet..here is my suggestions to my guests:

1. Is that dangerous to leave your card inside the machine without asking your bank to stop your card functions?

- Of course it is dangerous. China is a very safe country, generally..yet..What if someone happens stand behind you and get your code?

2. What should we do?

How to get your card out of the machine?

- There are two ways:

a) call the number at the ATM machine, get the staff to come immediately. Yet usually, it is difficult, because of the language; also because the people who is in charge of the ATM services don%26#39;t work every day,esp during weekend.

b)Find the power cord of the ATM machine, shut if down, let the machine restart--and the card will be automatically given back to you. (...probablly, the bank will never be happy about me, and ..put me into their black list. I am happy to help, yet dont say it was me who tell you all about.lol..)

3.How do you know there is no cash inside the machine and how to deal with this problem?

-Usually, if there is no cash inside the machine, there is no botton of %26#39;withdraw%26#39; in the screen, you only see %26#39;inquiry%26#39;.

- If so, get another machine.

-RE: try less 3 times at one machine;

If you want to try again, after using one machine for 2 times, better change to another machine to continue.
