Is the Guangdong Bostan hotel anywhere near the cheap shopping centres? Also i have read that there are many shops around or near the railway station. Is this railway station near Bostan Hotel?
last qn, how long is the journey in hrs/mins from the airport to the hotel?

No, not geographically close. The hotel is near Guangzhou East train station, not Guangzhou main train station. But you could use the metro to get to those places.
Journey length from airport depends on traffic conditions. Reckon on around 1-1.5 hours usually.
