How many days needed to do HK justice?

We will be travelling from the UK and wonder is 10 days too long to adequately explore Hong Kong?

How many days needed to do HK justice?

Hell no! It depends on your interests of course, but we went for 10 days a year or so ago and never got to see all we wanted to. In fact, we%26#39;ve been to Hong Kong three times and never seen the largest outdoor seated Buddha. It was probably our lowest priority though.

If you%26#39;re interested, you could spend two or three days in large art galleries and museums.

You could spend the best part of a day each in Ocean Park and Disney.

You could spend a couple of days at least shopping, both high and low end.

There is a zoo. (In fact not very good but...)

There is the peak, where you could easily spend half a day.

You could go to the races -- not to my taste but again...

There are a number of small outlying museums which are well worth a visit, but require some rail travel. Not a bother as it%26#39;s all very efficient.

You could visit temples.

There are odd, quirky things like teddy bear world/Snoopy world or something, but they are mostly for kids I guess.

And of course there%26#39;s the Buddha.

(You can also easily spend a couple more days shopping.)

Using 10 days is absolutely no problem.

We had 8 nights in January and a full itinerary, but didn%26#39;t get to see some of it.

It is a wonderful place to explore.

If you are only going for shopping, a few days would be enough, but there are so many beautiful places to visit to see the real culture.

Type itinerary in the search and get an idea of all the wonderful things to see and do.

P@

I went for 7 days and still wasnt enough time. If you think you have seen enough of Kowloon and central, there is always outlying islands, Stanley (a must IMO) and Aberdeen to visit too

If it is your first time then five to seven days minimum... IMHO. :)

10 days is not too long specially when you want to take things slow or do real shopping. you can spend a day entirely in 1 of their huge malls. and then there are the theme parks which can take up another 2 days.

2 days - kowloon

2 days - hk island

1 day - ocean park / victoria peak

1 day - disneyland / ngong pin village

1 day - macau

1 day - new territories

you still have extra days for the outlying islands and more shopping / sight seeing.

You might want to check out websites such as hkta.org and discoverhongkong.com - there are heaps of activities and places that most tourists never go near, but IMO are much more interesting than shopping, shopping and shopping. I would say 10 days isn%26#39;t even enough to ';do'; Hong Kong, specially exploring fascinating corners of the New Territories, let alone go to Macau, much as I love that city.

The first time I was in Hong Kong i was due to stay just 10 nights but actually extended my trip and was there about a month!!

I still cant say I have seen everything I want to I have been back once since then for 7 nights and am taking friends there for 7 nights 6 full days at the end of May!

You can scratch the surface and see the main things in about 6 Long Days (not much sleep) but if you have a lot you want to see and have the time why rush take a few extra days!

We have been in Hong Kong before but that was just a 3 day stopover on the way to visit our daughter who was studying in Beijing. We aren%26#39;t particularly interested in loads of shopping though my husband wants to buy himself a new camera when we are out there. We aren%26#39;t really interested in Disney either having been to Orlando too many times to mention.

We do want to see as many of the main sites as possible and I will do as suggested and search for itineraries on the forum.

Thanks

we were in hk in october with 2 kids ,we were there for 10 days and it wasnt enough time ,we could have done with another few days,so much there to see and do

I%26#39;ve lived here two years and am still finding new things to do and see all the time.
