Shopping at Shenzen Markets

Could some tell me if we require a visa from Hong Kong to shop at Shenzen markets.

Shopping at Shenzen Markets

I assume you are talking about Lo Wu Commercial Center at the border.

Yes if you are going there, you will either have to get a visa before coming to HK, or get it here in HK before going to Shenzhen.... OR as most people do, pay $ 150 at the border to get the visa on arrival (valid for 5 days).

US passports- not available for Visa on arrival.

Australian passports- no problem.

If you have a Visa to go to mainland China will this same Visa also work to go to Shenzen markets?

uh, yes. Shenzhen is in Mainland China.

if you have a visa to enter mainland China (not the visa on arrival at Lo Wu) then of course you can go into any city of China with that Visa.

However, if you apply for the Visa on arrival at Lo Wu for the $ 150.00 ... that is specifically only intended for tourists to stay in the Shenzhen Special Econ zone. (i.e. you cannot go to Guangzhou with that visa even though you can very well take the train to GZ from Shenzhen. It would be illegal. And you don%26#39;t want to do anything like that in China!)

Any of the travel agents in Hong Kong can get you a visa pretty quickly. You may want to look at the package tours. visa, transportation etc all in one package.

Could be useful to review this link :

euro-china.org/english/review-CHINA/visa.htm

It indicates :

B. For making tour in the Special Economic Zones of Shenzhen, Zhuhai or Xiamen, one can require to the local office of port visa the “Visa for Tour in Special Economic Zone”. In fact, in such case it is not necessary to fill the form for requiring a visa and to present photo, but it is sufficient to fill the entry card. The maximum duration of stay is 5 days for Shenzhen and Xiamen, 3 days for Zhuhai. A foreigner who possesses the “Visa for Tour in Special Economic Zone” can visit only such zones; if he/she desires to visit also other zones of China, must make demand to the local Department of Public Security.

Hopes this helps.

Is this only a day trip or would it be worth staying overnight? Is it too crazy to visit on a Saturday?
