I am in Hong Kong from Saturday and the races are on at Sha Tin on Sunday and Happy Valley on Wednesday. Is one track better than the other to experience?
I remember as well that you could take your passport and get similar to members rights at the track, is this still possible and worth doing? I believe this was Sha Tin.

I think that the atmosphere is better at Happy Valley, but that is a personal viewpoint only.
If you do go to HV and intend getting there and back by taxi, leave before the last race cos there does not appear to be any concept of queuing for a cab, it is a real free for all. Makes getting omn to a Ryanair flight look like a stroll in the park !
Horse Racing - Sha Tin or Happy Valley?
If you want the best atmosphere both for crowds and where the track is situated, then Happy valley wins hands down. I would also recommend standing in the general public enclosure, its a wonderful experience
As for taxis, I wouldnt bother with those. There are plenty of trams put on and waiting outside for all the racegoers to leave and you can easily find one going your way
