Whats the differerence...

We fly with Air China to Beijing and I have noticed there is Pugong and Hongqiao (im confused)are these seperate Airports or what is the difference.

thanks

Whats the differerence...

HI Shanghai has 2 international airport though Hongqiao caters more to domestic flights.It is located in Puxi.and the other international airport is in Pudong(the new area ofShanghai)linked to Puxi(literaly the old area of Shanghai by bridges n underwater tunnels)From the central point of Shanghai city officially is the Peoples square Pudong airport is about 45 mins away by car n Hongqiao about half an hour.So u see that both r airports of Shanghai.

Whats the differerence...

Yes, 2 airports. Shanghai is the only city in China to have 2 major passenger airports to its name.

Seriously though... look on a map of Shanghai and you%26#39;ll understand. :P

Duh!Ellyse nice to notice u.,thought yr exams r over n so no more burning the midnite oil.Guess the poster has got his destination wrong.Anyway if its Beijing airport wow! have u seen it on the net,its so huge at the new terminal with over 300 counters n it is a architectural delight.If Shanghai is not serviced by 2 different airports im sure it will be equally immense still i like the services offered at Shanghai Pudong airport., among the best i had experienced considering the bulk of passengers arriving at about the same time sometimes....its coooool. services r professional n efficient.Beijing i was there many years back seriously considering goin back after the games just to see the changes.

I think you%26#39;re the one tired from burning midnight oil.

I interpreted (correctly, I think) that OP is flying from Shanghai to Beijing, and has a choice of flying out from Pudong (not Pugong!) or Hongqiao airport.

Thank you, on our Ticket with Air China it states From: Shanghai Hongqiao China (SHA) but I have also heard of Pudong so Pudong is the Internationl Airport and Hongqiao is the Domestic is this correct.

Pudong serves most domestic and international flights. Hongqiao apparently serves only domestic.

Hi told u that u have a razor sharp mind lor.,not like me a 100 yr old uncle.Yes Pudong is for domestic n mostly international flights n Hongqiao ofr domestics unless like sometimes when there s heavy fog at Pudong then u may be diverted to there which rarely happen though........n i dont burn the midnite old just that old people dont sleep much duh...............

PVG is like JFK, SHA is like LaGuardia;

Just like OAK is an international airport provides international service probably to Mexico and Canada, SHA also provides some flights to Japan and probably Thailand, in that case, it is international as well;
