Changsha restaurants

Recently make a trip to Changsha to survey business opportunities. Looking at the website for good restaurants. We found Huogongdian (Fire Palace) recommendation by websites to be a lousy place to dine in. Better to get local snacks in small shops nearby the restaurant. The service is poor and slow and the food nothing exceptional. The price is high as they claimed to 100 years old. When we finally called for the bill, it took a while (I guess to add up the price of the 4 dishes it a major arithematic challenge for the counter). So if you want to pay high price, normal food, so called old restaurant name and slow service, this is the one. No value for money.

Changsha restaurants

Took a long time to give you the bill as the place was packed to overflowing, I presume?

I%26#39;ve been there as well, nothing to sing and dance about, but the performance in the open-air theatre was interesting to say the least.

Changsha restaurants

I%26#39;ve eaten here recently as 3 times in the last 3 weeks. Twice with one friend and once with several friends.

First the food:

-corn soup- first time overcooked and not good, second time good.

-stinky Tofu- cold and had the bad stinky flavor. Better to get it on the street outside. really left a bad taste in my mouth.

-dumplings- great and good choices, also liked the fried dumplings.

-rice plate- very good if not too filling.

-rest of the food is either menu ordered or off the cart passing by service. I can%26#39;t really rave about the rest of the food as it was neither great nor bad. Girlfriend loves the place, but I can take it or leave it.

Service:

When busy, forget about service, hard to get things ordered, the check, although beer is easy to get. When slow the service is good. When really slow the service is great.

Overall, I%26#39;m not into the performance, but that%26#39;s because I don%26#39;t like that kind of Chinese theater, but it is tradaitonal and I am a laowai, so don%26#39;t take my word on it.

Personally, I%26#39;d rather grab some chicken skewers on the walking street and then head over to the Beijing hotpot place around the corner from this restaurant. It%26#39;s walking towards the F1 bar and making a right toward the bar street. Last restaurant on the right. All you can eat and for 95RMB for 2 people with 2 beers and a coke, not bad pricing at all. the beef and mutton are really good, plus you get to make your own mix and match dipping sauces.

hi, what are the recommended restaurants and places to visit then?
