First visit mid-April

My mom and I are planning stop by HK on the way to the Philippines - we%26#39;ll be there April 12-14 (short, I know!)

Firstly - we%26#39;re deciding between two hotels, Metropark Kowloon and Royal Plaza. I%26#39;ve heard great reviews about Royal Plaza and I think I read great ones about Metropark Kowloon too. My main concern is staying somewhere that%26#39;s easiest to get to from the airport (and just easily accessible from anywhere in the city) and has a great location.

Second - these are the top things/sights we%26#39;re interested in:

-Ladies Market

-Temple Street Night Market

-Victoria Peak (with the tram ride)

-Giant Bronze Buddha (we%26#39;ll probably do the gondola ride up too)

-Light Show

We%26#39;re arriving in the evening on the 12th and leaving in the afternoon on the 14th, so here%26#39;s my draft itinerary:

4/12

-Check into hotel

-Night Market

4/13

-Giant Buddha in the AM

-Victoria Peak in the afternoon

-Light Show at night

4/14

-Ladies market before leaving

I%26#39;m open to suggestions if you think we have time to do more or if there%26#39;s something that%26#39;s missing from the intinerary that you think absolutely should be included.

aaaaaannnddd... GO! :)

Between RP and Metropark Kowloon, DEFINITELY the location of RP is MUCH MUCH better.

I think Metropark Kowloon is one of the worse located hotel in all of Kowloon. (that%26#39;s just MY opinion)

RP is good location, but it%26#39;s not connected directly to the MTR. The train station is right underneath though which makes transporting to many areas also very convenient.

If you take the Airport Express train to Kowloon, you will find most hotels will be easy access.

I am just curious whether you have looked in to the prices, and looked into the hotel reservations? Because to my knowledge, most hotels in mid - april this year are either fully booked, or they are super expensive.

Good luck.

Thanks for the input Katetam!

I found a deal online for about $350 USD for both nights we%26#39;re staying there. Didn%26#39;t think it was too bad considering the last minute decision on the trip (we literally just decided to stop by HK just this week, hence the short trip).

And this might be a ridiculous question, but what do you mean when you say RP isn%26#39;t directly connected to the MTR, but the train station is underneath?

royal plaza has room promos - good to check it out

Uh oh.

I just found out one of aunt%26#39;s booked a room for us already... at the Imperial Hotel!! *DUN dun duuuunnn...*

Reviews tell me that the hotel is pretty sketchy (that might be an understatement actually), but the location%26#39;s quite ideal. So, if you have any recommendations on what to be prepared for (i.e. I%26#39;m bringing some flip flops for the floors and showers and maybe some room spray for the smell?), I%26#39;m all ears.

Plus, would love to know of any food spots nearby that are a MUST.

Oh dear, Imperial is my top rated, disastrous hotel. Sorry....

Location is excellent though.

Tsim Sha Tsui has TOO many ';must tries';.... what%26#39;s your budget, and what%26#39;s your favorite cuisine?

woohooitsme,

did you READ the reviews under Imperial Hotel on tripadvisor?

You must change your hotel. Seriously.

I agree. Imperial has paper thin walls and you could hear everything what the next door neighbors are doing. So not so sure if your mom would be up for that!!!

I stayed at the Imperial 3 years ago. The guy in the room next door had a different lady guest every night and i dont think I had a decent nights sleep throughout the entire week.

I hope your mom is a heavey sleeper.

I am sure with your budget, you can find more suitable accommodation

OMG... I think it might be too late to change. My aunt already booked... still going to see if we can cancel, but if not, here%26#39;s to hoping that we%26#39;ll be spending most of our time out of the hotel and that once we need to sleep, we%26#39;ll be so exhausted that we%26#39;ll pass out asap. (Thank goodness my mom IS a heavy sleeper, and I%26#39;ll definitely be using my ipod when I head to bed).

Looking to stick to local cuisine - just some good food places that are budget-friendly...

not just the noise... everything is filthy !!!
