hangzhou/wuzhen tour

I will be traveling with my sister-in-law that lives in HongKong. We are looking at a tour of hanzhou/wuzhen that is 4days/3nights.

I have some questions that I hope someone can answer for me:

* has anyone taken a tour similar to this (details below)?

* Does the itinerary seem aggressive? we want to be able to enjoy each of the sights and not be rushed through.

* what is the weather like at the beginning of May?

* are hangzhou and wuzhen destinations where joining a tour is a must? one of us is fluent in Cantonese, but not Mandarin.

any information/advice is much appreciated.

here are some of the details of the tour we are looking at:

spend first night in Hangzhou hotel and then in morning transfer to Wuzhen to visit the Dongzha Scenic Zone, Jiangnan Hundred Beds Museum, Foliage Dyeing Workshop, Woodcarving Museum and Water Stage. Transfer to Xizha Scenic Zone and overnight at TongAn Hotel, a typical Jiangnan building complex of Ming and Qing dynasties.

Next morning visit the Xizha Scenic Zone, Paste Company, Foundry Workshop, Footbinding Culture Museum and Yida Silk Store. After lunch, free to explore the Xizha Dajie. Transfer back to your hotel in Hangzhou. fly back to hong kong next morning.

I can%26#39;t speak to Wuzhen. Hangszhou can be seen in 2 days -- the lake, tea area, temples and private palaces. So I think your plan is practical. It%26#39;s also a place you could spend a week. But don%26#39;t expect good weather. It is extremely muggy.

Uhhhhuuhh!!! sounds more like a commercial shopping tour rather than taking in the famous beauty sites of Wuzhen n Hangzhou.i think i will persoanlly skip the commercial sites out n concentrate on the natural attractions which r devoid in yr itinerary. Also no point breezing thru the shopping ares unless ur a shopaholic.........

thank you for your reply. we%26#39;ve decided not to do this tour but to stay in nanjing for a few nights and then a few nights in suzhou. Are there any tips you can provide for these two places? We love the history and culture aspects.

Hi will u consider Suzhou n Hangzhou.at least a day each n if u r at Suzhou u can consider Wuxi as well which is not far off.provided u do not intend to visit 1 of the watertown.Frankly theres not nuch to see in Nanjing compared to either Suzhou or Hangzhou. It will be quite a pleasant surprise to see these two contrasting city, one as well known as the Venice of the East n the other heavenly paradise on earth by Marco Polo n one of the best tour city in China. If u so decide to see these two places i will provide u the list of attractions.Acyually for 4 days 3 nites u can cover Suzhou,Wuxi,Hangzhou n a watertown like Zhouzhuang or tongli.U need not have to spens a nite at the water town but u will need to spend a night at Suzhou n Hangzhou.Try to skip any commercial stops n save time.

No need to bother with a tour. What%26#39;s of interest to tour groups won%26#39;t necessarily be of interest to you, unless you%26#39;re the kind of person who needs to tick-off sights off a to-do list.
