Besides John, can somebody recommend other drivers in beijing? I don%26#39;t need a guide, just a driver for a day.

How much should a driver and car cost per day? I am curious as I will be in Beijing on April 28th and got a ridiculous quote from the hotel for a car and driver for 3 days. I think it was $1,100. I will wait till I get to Beijing to arrange one.

Depends on a lot of factors. Eg type of vehicle, age of vehicle, driver%26#39;s driving skills (and English-speaking skills), where you%26#39;re going to to, etc.

We have just been to Beijing and we had a driver for the day to take us to the Wall and to the Summer Palace. His name is Wangchen and you can contact him through Qing (chineseqing) - details from these forums. He is lovely, is a very good driver and has a new, clean van. We had a great day with him. On another day we organised a car and driver through our hotel and that worked really well too.
