We are 2 couples 40/50 yrs old and are thinking of visiting HK I worked there in HMS Tamar during the late 70%26#39;s early 80%26#39;s and have always wanted to go back. We would like to have a hotel on HK island and be near to shops ect Also we need to know when the climate is best to go as we will only have about 5 days not long enough if it is too humid or we will be flaking out with the heat.

Best time to visit hong kong and which hotelsHi we stayed in Hong Kong in Feb this year on Hong Kong island. We stayed in the Park lane and it was fantastic. We upgraded to a deluxe park harbour view and it was great. We were on the 17th floor and the veiw was looking over Victoria park and part harbour. The beds are so comfy as well and had a glass room around the bathroom. You are a 5 min walk to times square and near to everything it %26#39;s a great location. We didn%26#39;t enjoy the restruant at the top of the hotel though very over rated.Might be best to request a room if you want a view as you might end up on the other side of the building looing out onto another building. It was only about 16-18 dgrees when we were there which suited us fine.
The best time to go to Hong Kong is anytime, it
doesn';t matter when you go you will have a great
time. We are just about to go off on our 14th trip
in 20 years and have been in all seasons. If the
heat of summer will bother you go in late
October / November or early in the year. If
you want a good hotel on Hong Kong island try
the Metropark Causeway Bay.
october/november/march - cool weather but not foggy (for victoria peak) either.
If you want to avoid too humid or the heat, November or December would be the best months.
Given you would like to have a hotel on Hong Kong Island and be near to shops etc.:
Causeway Bay has literally hundreds of restaurants and shops for all levels, hotels includes
Lanson Place
Park Lane
Excelsior
Also, hotels near Causeway Bay includes
Metropark Causeway Bay
Rosedale on the Park
Walden Hotel
The Fleming
If you prefer upscale shopping, they are in or near Central District, hotels includes
Four Seasons
Island Shangri-La
Landmark Mandarin Oriental
Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong
Hotel LKF by Rhombus
Conrad
J.W. Marriott
Hi pattap. I agree, try for November. Not so hot but clear days. We have been several times but always stayed in Kowloon. We will be there in October this time and we did a lot of research and , from advice in Tripadvisor and elsewhere, we have decided to stay at Metropark, Causeway Bay. Good luck!
We are 50 year olds who have just returned from two weeks in HK. We stayed at the Jen Hotel in the Western district which was very comfortable, it is situated in the old Chinese area and more residential. Much quieter than Kowloon. Taxis are very cheap in HK and you can catch the ferry to KL for HK $2.20 ( an absolutely great trip and so cheap).March is a great time to go, as the weather is still very mild and if you travel before the HK sevens the room rates are cheaper. We go this time nearly every year. As you only have five days, i suggest that you buy an Octopus card at the airport ( lower level)it makes getting around a breeze. You should visit the Peninsula Hotel, it is a real treat and a step back in time, Victoria Peak, Aberdeen, Stanley Market, Deep Water Bay, Repulse Bay, the Big Buddha and if you have tome a trip to Macau. have a great trip !!
Many thanks for all of your replies we look forward to planning our trip and this site will help us a lot
I like Hongkong esp. in December when the shops and buildungs have Xmas decoration, waether dry and around 20掳C
