can i buy silk material?

sorry for maybe a stupid query...my 1st visit to HK next week, and i would love to buy silk material to have made into clothes back in the uk.....i know you can have items made up very quickly, but i want my daughters 21st dress (she is not with me) made from silk.

Is it good value to buy material in hk? I am staying at the harbour plaza kowloon.

I have 1 free day to shop (alone)...any advice much appreciated thx julie

otherwise try the china arts store near the star ferry in tsim sha tsui

The sales people there are very helpful. Harbour Plaza has free shuttle bus service to Peninsula Hotel, you can take a short walk from there. Ask the driver if you are in doubt.

My wife (well and me as well I suppose) thoroughly explored the silk market (Western) and also the silk section of one of the Chinese product department-store places. The Western market is awesome, not so much for the size but for the sheer variety of stuff you get, rather than the actual price. I suspect it%26#39;s likely to be completely different to the stuff you get in the UK, but not necessarily cheap. She says it was extremely good quality. She also bought some good-quality silk at the department store, which wasn%26#39;t cheap either but was stuff she couldn%26#39;t dream of getting here on the whole.
