I have a unique question that I have not found an answer to elsewhere within the forums:
My wife suffers from sleep apnea and, as such, is required to use a breathing apparatus at night. We will be bringing it along. Because of its sensitivity, she needs to carry it on the plane with her. She has a special permit that she shows the flight crew on US domestic airlines that explains the situation, and they always honor it and allow her to carry it, her laptop briefcase, and her purse onto the plane.
My question is whether or not we will run into a problem with the Chinese carrier on the flight between Shanghai and Beijing? Could anyone out there point us in the right direction so we can find out if the airline(s) will also honor this doctor鈥檚 permit?
Thanks for all your help.

Carry-ons for Domestic Flights
If the machine is roughly within normal carry-on dimensions, it should be no problem - although the one piece of check-in baggage is strictly enforced at some airports, carry-on is allowed in ';reasonable quantities'; ... on a flight from Guangzhou this morning I saw some people with up to 4 pieces, e.g. backpack, wheeled luggage, large department store carrier bag %26amp; crate of mangoes (honest!).
But as Chinese authorities can change their minds very quickly it%26#39;s probably still a good idea to have a doctor%26#39;s letter (maybe with a Chiinese translation) - preferably with as many official looking stamps %26amp; seals on as possible: the Chinese love them :-)
