I will be going to Hong Kong next week 7.4.08. with my 4 year son and mum. Can anybody who had been to Hong Kong recently with kids advise me whether its safe to go there. Thanks....

Believe it or not there are 7 million people living and working in Hong Kong... and some of those are kids!

There is a huge thread about this. Probably the biggest one I%26#39;ve ever seen. Everything has been said -- at least once. You must make your own decision of course, but Singapore is a much more modern country than mine and we have had flu vaccine for at least a week. It is, according to the news very effective for the strain, which is not confined to Hong Kong. Hong Kong is no more dangerous than any other country in the flu season.

Not again! You are more likely to catch the flu from fellow Singaporeans on the plane coming to Hong Kong, than catching it in Hong Kong. Or having an accident on the way to the airport. They do have children in Hong Kong, by the way!

On second thought, stay home, lock yourself in your house and don%26#39;t go anywhere... don%26#39;t come to Hong Kong, don%26#39;t even get on the plane. You%26#39;ll be safe from all threats both real and imaginary.

As a parent, I can understand your fear and concerns as what you hear and see on the news from media may be quite worriesome.

I am quite a paranoid mother ( I admit it!) My 4 and 2 year old are still going out as normal, but when it%26#39;s really crowded, or in an enclosed place, with poor ventilation, I will leave with them immediately.

On MTRs, my friends and I are putting our children in masks during rush hours, just to protect them from people who sneeze or coughs at close range.

You don%26#39;t need to, we just choose to for our peace of mind.
