hi, wonder if anyone can help me?
Me and My Wife planning for an overnite/or two trip to SZ from HK next week, after our first nite then im gonna spend a week in HK. as this is going to be my first time crossing to SZ china from HK. My wife is planning for a shopping fiesta in Shenzhen, and my question is. we gonna bring one large luggage out from hk and i think it%26#39;ll grow more when we%26#39;re back to HK, maybe up to four luggage.
wonder if we could take the train or is there any transport services from SZ (say from my hotel, stayin at best western) to HK with that large luggages?
Im totally lost, never done this kind of trip b4, crossing to SZ, as my last trip was 1998. a year after china rule.
i read on the forum theres nothing about this issues.
Thanks
hopes someone has done this kind of trip b4.
Need Help On HK-Shenzhen-HK Tripwe were in HK/Shenzhen %26amp; Guangzhou 2 weeks ago and did plenty of shopping in both. We caught the train back from GZ to Hong Kong and were able to check in our huge suitcases %26amp; boxes at a charge. We checked in 2 large cartons (about 20 kilos each) and one suitcase and that cost HK$200. On the train, people put their suitcases in an area just next to the carriage. Hand luggage goes in the rack about your seat. There%26#39;s no room to store luggage in your seat space though so checking in would be the way to go.
hope this helps a bit.
Need Help On HK-Shenzhen-HK TripThanks Maz1, do you know if the train/MTR in ShenZhen(LoWu station) could check in our large bags n luggage to HK. and how does the process?
is it like as we do in airports? we check in our bags in LoWu station, n got tickets to claim it in HK ?
Sorry, im very lost. i dont want to hurt my back bringin in all my WIFE Shopping Luggages.
Many Thanks Maz1.
hi frozz- whilst we only did the train from GZ to HK- i would assume it will be exactly the same from SZ to HK-
I was so nervous, I didn%26#39;t think anyone would understand- I was worried we wouldn%26#39;t find a porter to help with our miles of shopping, i was worried about everything, but, believe me, there was nothing to worry about. It was very orderly and well organized..
Yes, you will get a ticket for your check-in luggage.
In GZ, we arrived at the station, and there was a big sign up telling us our train number (which is printed on the ticket) and telling us to sit behind the sign and wait.
We were then ushered in past the gate, the porter took our luggage, and there was a sign about check-in luggage. They weighed it, and advised us to check in 3 pieces, and take one on the train, which we did.
When we arrived at HK station, we just went into the designated area, and the luggage came to us on a big trolly a few minutes later. Then you go through Customs.
Everything was very well organized indeed. Nothing to worry about.
Maz1, thank you so much on sharing your experience. your experiences saves the day. i worried too much, as my wife is very exciting to go shopping @ lowu next week. I love her, but i dont want to hurt my back from our luggages plus the extras.
will report it back after im done with the trip, or anyone could share their experiences like im going to have.
Thanks.
Sorry for raining on your party, frozzty. But your situation is a bit different. Maz1 took the intercity thru-train from GZ to HK, which has check-in luggage service. But you can%26#39;t take that train because it doesn%26#39;t stop at Shenzhen. The only trains that run between Shenzhen/Lowu border and Hong Kong are regular commuter trains, so you%26#39;ll have to carry your own bags.
There is a size restriction on baggage that can be brought on the train. I can%26#39;t find the exact information yet on MTR%26#39;s website, so maybe other forums can help. Nevertheless, I see people carrying large bags and hand trolleys on trains to Lowu all the time, so as long as yours aren%26#39;t outrageuosly large I don%26#39;t think you%26#39;ll have a problem.
hi glacier- i wondered if it would be the same...what a bummer.
how about the bus or the ferry? would they have a bigger allowance?
originally I was going to return from shenzhen and I felt exactly the same- I was so worried because I had read about the size/weight restrictions.
sorry frozz-but I don%26#39;t think I%26#39;d worry overly- people are travelling to shenzhen specifically for shopping every day, and we saw people leaving Lohu with massive cases- they%26#39;re going somewhere with them.
bummer
thanks glacier for the tip. i also asked a question on SZ forum, on how much does it cost for a bus or van for border croos to my HK hotel in causeway bay, we will take the MTR then from HK, but coming back is still a mistery to us.
