Nice Hotel in Beijing

Hello All,

As I am planning my trip to China I have seen a lot of hotels but have no idea how to pick! according to the pictures, my budget fits with the park plaza in beijing, but I really don%26#39;t need the fitness center and the multiple super fancy restaurants in the hotel (I would not be using such accommodations anyway) So i guess i can go for something cheaper but equally centralized (close to sightseeing places).

basically what i%26#39;m trying to say is if you can help me find a nice hotel but not as fancy as the park plaza. you know comfy bed, clean bathrooms and a good location (its ok if i have to take a taxi here and there)

any recomendations?

please help!

Thank you all in advance!!!! :) :) :) :)

The Kapok hotel near Wangfujing that Elyse often recommends might fit the bill.

There are indeed many hotels in Beijing. Most hotels in your budget will include full-service meeting facilities that you don%26#39;t need--you might as well save some money and stay in a smaller place. You might also consider a courtyard-type hotel, though they do tend to be a bit less luxurious.

well, your going to have to take a taxi pretty much everywhere.. Beijing is a big city. Now for picking your hotel.... I think you should be able to find one when you arrive if you want or you can get it in advance. Anything that says ';Hotel'; in english is a safe bet. The radisson is nice and so is the ritz-carlton, marriot. The Holiday inn is a bit far from things so I%26#39;ll reccommend not staying there. I believe there is a Days Inn around here somewhere.

You want a comfy bed? Thats pretty hard to come by in China. All the beds here are usually really hard, but they get the job done wen you want to sleep. The kerry center hotel is prolly too over the top, its for business elite. You should check out the Shangri-la hotels too. Also check out http://www.immersionguides.com/ I found some good info on hotels there and through using the Insiders Guide to Beijing. I live here in BJ and still use the book. Good luck with your trip

hi

we have just come back from China and stayed at the park plaza . our family of 5 thought it was great and the beds werent as hard as some of the others we slept in whilst in China . its only a 5 minute taxi ride [ about 10rmb for memory ] to tianamen square and there are some excellent restaurants nearby ... so whilst we didnt use all the facilities the breakfast was good , the rooms good and there are shops nearby to buy water , fruit and a bakery . so we gave it a big tick

Or you could try something totally different and stay at a Bed and Breakfast. We%26#39;re planning to stay at the Mao%26#39;er Hutong Courtyard Bed and Breakfast. tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g294212-d640864鈥?/a>

We also could have afforded a more expensive place but I wanted something with a little more local flavor. We stay at Hamptons and Marriotts in the States, why do the same thing in China? This place is within walking distance of Tiananmen Square.
