the problem is you have to purchase train ticket within 24hours after booking train ticket, and also you need to book ticket around 10 days in advance.so you do need help from a local person or agent as well as your hotel. if you do need help, I also can help you for booking in advance, since I am a local person in Xi%26#39;an.Train Z20 is very nice for tourists.that%26#39;s a overnight train from Xi%26#39;an to Beijing.

Doubt you%26#39;ll be able to buy when you arrive in Xi%26#39;an. You%26#39;re trying to travel at the end of the October holiday week, this is a popular route and tickets go on sale 10 days in advance.

You can%26#39;t buy in advance from Europe unless you mean using one of those online agencies that charge an arm and a leg for the service. Try asking your hotel/hostel/guesthouse to help with it, or contact John (johnqingg2004@yahoo.com.cn).

Hi

Yes everyone is correct, normally tickets are only available around two weeks in advance, however if you are travelling in China during this period you should be able to purchase the tickets at most cities within China.

1-3 Oct is Chinese National Holiday. It may be a busier time but I think you will be ok. It鈥檚 not as busy as Spring Festival!

Overnight travel is probably your best option, tickets will cost approx 400 RMB/ 拢28. Journey takes around 11/12 hours.

You may want to consider flying, you can get some good discounts on air tickets bought in China and it only takes 1 hour 40 mins. An Econ class ticket will cost you around 530 RMB + taxes.
