hi! i%26#39;ll be going hong kong this may with my bf. As we are running on a very low budget so that we can spend more over there, we are looking for cheap ways to get there. I%26#39;ve seen some suggestions online that one can travel through macau to hong kong. I checked the ticket price and it%26#39;s about SGD$100 cheaper. But my concern is how much would the ferry cost? and will the transfer through the ferry be very long i.e. a few hours? I%26#39;m going to stay in a hostel in mong kok, is it very inconvenient to get there through the ferry?

Ferry costs around HK$142 up. They take an hour, plus time for immigration at both ends. Take First ferry to be closer to your hostel in Mongkok.
Macau is worth a day or two.
