2 months, 2 adults, 2 kids in Shanghai - where to stay?

My husband%26#39;s work will be bringing him (and lucky us :) to Shanghai for 2 months this summer. While he%26#39;s at work during the days our girls (ages 6 %26amp; 9)and I will explore Shanghai by foot. We are hoping to find a service apartment close to lots of different options for meals and activities. Which area of Shanghai should we be looking in for our housing? Thanks so much for any insight!

Hi i would suggest at Puxi The Hongkong serviced apartments or Celebrity serviced apartments. At Pudong if u want cheaper nvery clean spacious apartments then Eversunshine hotel at Pudong nanlu is the best with duplex units 2 to 3 bedrooms upstairs n the hall downstairs,2 bathrooms with internet in rooms n all rooms with tv.

Thanks so much for your prompt and practical help! My husband%26#39;s work is on Pudong side, but he says it%26#39;s easy for him to get a cab to work. Our budget is up to $150/night USD - pool for girls is as important as location. Also interested in day/week-end trip options out of city to see as much as possible. Will look into guide books, reviews, and research, too! Thanks again for your tips - we are SO excited about coming to Shanghai!

Hi since yr husband works in Pudong u may consider hotels at Pudong n it should be close to the metro as u will use it to travel n also for yr husband to go to work.Hotels like Eton,Purple Mountain,Oriental riverside, at Pudong is around yrbudget slightly above but since u will stay there for 2 months u should get a better rate, n metro station is just a stone throw away from these 2 hotels. The room is reasonably large but as yr children r still small i think they should be able to fit in alright.Eversunshine hotl at Pudong is very reasonably priced for a duplex suite with 2 or 3 bedrooms n 2 halls n 2 bathrooms n costs about 1300Rmb/day with buffetbreakfast.Over at Puxi right in the centre of the city in the middle of everything at Nanjing dong lu pedestrian strret if in case u choose to stay ther n also metro line 2 is nearby few mins away r Central hotel,Ramada Plaza n the Charms at JiuJiang lu.which has suite for 800 Rmb/day. Not all the hotels has a pool though.Hongkong plaza serviced apartments has a pool n fitness centre n its location is also very goood n central at Huai hai zhong lu.close to a lot of activities daily.

All the abovementioned hotels r at the best locations as u have 2 small children to take care of so i feel the hotels should be close to all necessary amenities....n dont require much walking to get to areas of interest. Besides if u rlooking for normal apartments to rent i feel not many r willing to rent for just 2 months.Goodluck n enjoy....

I would suggest that you try the serviced apartments at Portman Ritz-Carlton or JW Marriott. These are close to metro line 2 which would be better than taxi for getting your husband to work. Plenty of choice for restaurants and etc near both places.

Thank you so much for these additional tips! Apartment rates seem much more reasonable than I imagined at JW Marriott, and reviews are generally stellar. Line 2 gets my husband directly to work. Never would have thought to look there - would be a dream to stay there! Thanks again!

Yay! Glad to have given you a useful answer.
