I%26#39;m wondering if anyone has used Stephanie%26#39;s lately and if so how was the service, as last time there was anything written about her, it was a bit negative.
Alternatively, any new recommendations would be appreciated as we will be in SZ in 2 1/2 week%26#39;s time and will be ordering at least 3 or 4 men%26#39;s suits.
thanks in advance
maz
any updates on Stephanie's Tailoring service...
I will be in Shenzhen on February 25th. Plan to talk to Stephanie %26amp; see what is up. Will post a report as soon as I know something.
any updates on Stephanie's Tailoring service...
i would so appreciate that- i will be there on 10th march and even though i%26#39;ve taken the other recommended names from the long post re tailors, i%26#39;d still like to try stephanie for at least 1 or 2 suits but only if she%26#39;s got her act together (again)
I had some shirts made there recently and they were not up to par. I had shirts made there last year and they were very good. Don%26#39;t know if she is using a different shop or what the problem is. Tell Stephanie that she needs to pay more attention to the fitting and quality - I%26#39;m sure she%26#39;ll listen.
I%26#39;ll be talking to her later this week and will let her know that I wasn%26#39;t happy with the last batch of shirts. I%26#39;ll give her another shot, because I don%26#39;t really have an alternative. There are supposed to be some good tailors in Dongmen at the Fabric Center.
Good Luck!
You know I will still go there. Some ppl have good experiences and some bad. That is life!
I was planning to go again in October and get some other things made, but things have changed and maybe it might be in 09 before I go again.
As maz1 said it would be good to hear an update in regards to Stephanie%26#39;s work, because of the negative comments.
Cheers
hey wooey
I%26#39;ve just arrived back- very exhausted -
I stupidly forgot my paper with Stephanie%26#39;s shop- luckily, on day 1 we were wandering around looking for her shop, and we spotted a lady having something measured so I started talking (as we aussies do) and she turned out to be australian, living in Hong Kong for the past few years- she so highly recommended this tailor (where we met) and said she had been using her for years and we should go ahead, there would be no problem. We took her advice and everything turned out perfectly.
I%26#39;ve written about her in the %26#39;tailoring in shenzhen%26#39; thread, but here%26#39;s her details and I highly recommend her:
Anna- Lohu Centre, Shop No. 53 5/F mobile tel: (0186)13902953607. We paid 800 yuan per men%26#39;s two piece suit including really nice fabric. (2 suits, one copied from a suit and measurements taken from that suit) and the other measured by Anna. No fittings necessary and everything was absolutely perfect
It is really better to have a recommendation because when you get to the Lohu Centre, it is terribly overwhelming. We were wandering around and I was so confused by all the different tailors, I was really ready to leave and say ';blow it'; it was all too hard-
until we found ourselves at Anna%26#39;s shop.
whoever you choose, good luck.
Hey Maz
I know what you mean about overwhelming!..... Hello Missy/Mister..you want to buy copy DVD, copy handbags, copy watch. All the while you are trying to find the right shop number to get some things made. If you are a foreigner, they target you, like honey to the bee!
It%26#39;s on every corner and it does become to be a nusiance. But I treat it as the Chinese tradition of getting business, just wave your hand politely and say ';NO!'; Stay focused on your own itinerary and never lose sight of what you are doing there in the first place.
Thanks for Anna%26#39;s Contact. If things fail with Stephanies, then I will have some one to fall back to. As I said before that I wont be back there this year so it will be 09 before I go again. Also some shops seem to disappear when you return and it is beter to have some back up as well.
Hope you had a great time there? as I know I sure did!
hey wooey- you are right about the chinese way of doing business- i%26#39;m well used to it and the constant Missy you buy, missy you buy did make me giggle- I actually took video of it and am still giggling. If you don%26#39;t like that sort of thing, better not to go to china I guess.
I must admit, I wasn%26#39;t so crazy about Lohu centre- or even Shenzhen on the whole- I absolutely loved Guangzhou though - everything about it.
On this forum there was a thread which asked ';shenzhen or guangzhou'; I would have to say Guangzhou is much better hands down- the shopping, the place I just loved everything about it.
btw- Anna has been at that centre for many many years, so I%26#39;m fairly positive she will be there next year. They also say on their card that they will measure you up in Hong Kong if needed.
I will have no hesitation ordering suits from her by e-mail and will be happy to have them send them over.
have fun whenever you get back there.
I can understand how you guys feel about Lowu. I was in SZ for a week in Feb, visiting my brother. He would not let me go there by myself. Lowu is for tourist and people who live in SZ do not shop there. I had culture shock @ Lowu and I am glad that he came with me twice. Not sure if I will shop there again.
BTW, I am Chinese, and I feel safe everywhere else in SZ
