The HK Govt launched its GovWiFi programme yesterday providing free wireless Internet access at government locations and this service is also available for visitors to use free. Initially there are 35 locations available, mainly public libraries and public enquiry service centres but by mid 2008 the number of locations will increase to 120 and by mid 2009 there will be 350 locations including large parks, sports centres and major recreation and cultural centres.
Locations can be found on the GovWiFi website here;

Although some hotels/guesthouses in HK do provide free internet access this service may be useful to visitors with laptops who don%26#39;t want to pay for, or don%26#39;t have internet access in their accommodation.
Free wireless Internet
We found when leaving at HKIA that there was free wifi in the eating section upstairs. It was great for filling in time while waiting for the plane. It was subsidised by one of the phone companies.
