Syd - HKG on flight CX110 (Cathay Pacific)

Has anyone flown on this flight recently, if so could you tell me if it is a 2 class or 3 class flight.

Also where do you recommend that my wife and myself sit, as we are both very tall and are flying economy. Unfortunately row 54 is not available.

Unfortunately I have no suggestions, just sympathy. My wife and I are not very tall, and still suffered mightily. Seat pitch on Cathay Pacific is not good. From memory no worse than any other airline at least recently. It seems to be shrinking.

We are not tall either (I%26#39;m ';petite';), and we were so uncomfortable on our flight in economy class. You are jammed in there so tightly. I don%26#39;t think this is normal; I think this is just Cathay. I have taken Air Canada to Shanghai and it was more comfortable than Cathay. I took Air Thai from HKG to Phuket, and it was more comfortable. I had legroom, and I was able to nap/sleep without problem.

On Cathay, the seats seem smaller so you have less room for your body, and your legroom is so cramped too. So when the person in front of you leans back the seat, you really feel it! On other airlines those things never bothered me as it bothers me on Cathay. I was never able to nap on Cathay in economy.

Next time, I am switching to either Oasis or Air Canada.

I also took Cathay from SFO - HK last November and it was one of the worst flights I%26#39;ve ever taken. I am not tall at all just barely 5ft. 5 and my friends were even shorter than me. And none of us could sleep because it just felt like there%26#39;s no room to move around. We were so sleep deprived after we arrived in HK.

This time we%26#39;re taking Singapore Air to Hong Kong and as far as I remember their seats are definitely much better than Cathay. And I used to work for Cathay so I feel kinda bad saying this but unfortunately it%26#39;s the truth.

These days most of the flights between Australia and HK are 2 class.

Being very wide in the hips, short in the waist and long in the legs, I can%26#39;t say I%26#39;ve noticed CX economy seats being any less comfortable than other airlines. There are even a few inches to spare between my knees and the seat in front. If your knees do end up in the back of the seat in front, keep moving them around until the person in that seat complains - then you can point out to cabin crew that you can%26#39;t help it ... CX are much more likely to try and move you than QF, most of whose staff wouldn%26#39;t recognise a service ethic if it bit them on the nose.

IME, the Mashed Kneecap award for shortest pitch goes to Air Macau.

I travelled on this flight last week. The good news is that Cathay have upgraded the planes on this route, and it is a new Airbus 330-300 Class 2. Here is the link to the seating plan:

Choose the link to the 2 Class (with new long-haul product).

The good thing about these seats is that they slide within a shell to recline - you don%26#39;t get the seat from the person in front of you in your lap.

I am also fairly tall and I didn%26#39;t find it too uncomfortable. Put it this way - I was able to get some sleep! I was in Row 36 on the window.

Personally, I recommend if there are only two of you travelling that you sit on one side or the other (i.e. window seat) rather than in the middle so that it is only the two of you together and you don%26#39;t need to worry about anyone else sitting right next to you.

Have a great trip!

Thank You to everyone for your input and advice on our up coming flight.

We%26#39;re booked on this flight in June. Havnt flown Cathay for a long time but we usually try to get a 2 seater at the rear !

Wondering about the timing for us.. arr.HK 1505 have to get KA896 to Pudong dept. 1600
