Hotel advice please

Hi

Spending 1 night only in Shenzen (from HK) and heading off the next day to Guilin via air. Can anyone suggest a hotel that would be pretty close to the arrival railway station from HK and the Lo Wu Shopping Centre? I am travelling with my mum. We would like something between $120 and $200/night including breakfast.

Thanks

Hotel advice please

Hi qillq

The Shangri-la hotel is right on the road next to the Lo Wu Railway Station. I have not stayed there myself but it%26#39;s website is very good. I use Agoda.com for booking hotels and you should get a very good rate through them for the Shangri-La. I personally stayed at the Landmark Hotel which is a little bit away from Lo Wu train station and it was excellent also. Be very cautious with carrying cash as there are many pickpockets in Shenzhen - best to use a belt type moneypurse that is not visible and is worn under clothing.

Enjoy Shenzhen - it is amazing!

I spent 3 nights on my own at the Shangri-La Lowu last December. It is lovely and the food is excellent. Check out their website for deals before you use a booking engine.

It%26#39;s a short walk from the hotel to the Lowu Train Station - if you have lots of luggage, there are porters with little carts that hang around in front the hotel - they will help you for around 35-40RMB.

Shangri-La is out of my price range but it is a very good hotel. I have stayed at the Century Plaza which is only a few minutes walk further up the road in the same direction you would be going to get to the Shangri-La from the station (you can see the Shangri-La as soon as you come out of the immigration/customs check point at the station.) Check the hotel reviews and prices and see which handles your budget better. Both will have English speaking staff. I think Shangri-La may have a courtesy bus to the airport but please check on this first.

If you want to be close to the Train station and Lo Wu Commercial City (the main shopping center) you can%26#39;t beat the Shangri-La for location. It is an excellent hotel. I%26#39;ve been there many times and have had many friends stay there and enjoyed it. You can typically get the best rates for hotels in China on ctrip.com (click on english) or elong.net I have also had good luck with asiarooms.com

Lo Wu Shopping Center is a Zoo - learn to say ';Bu Yao'; = ';Don%26#39;t want';

Good Luck!

Thanks everyone

Just an update- we have booked Century Plaza- better suited to our budget. Got an Executive Twin for $116 (including all taxes) with Agoda, I had accumulated $50 in credit points with prior bookings through them so we ultimately have paid $66. Stay tuned for the review! Thanks for all input.
