hi
the above property is located at 98 zhenning road, jing an district, shanghai
i write to enquire about the quality of this property from convenience of location and comfort level. could it possibly make a good base to see the highlights of shanghai?
i believe there is a metro station nearby but i am not sure if the metro station is at a walkable distance, say ten minute casual walk.

I can%26#39;t comment on the comfort as I have%26#39;nt been inside, but it looks OK from outside (well maintained etc%26gt;). The Jiangsu lu metro station (line 2) is about a 10min. walk away. Line 2 is very convenient for seeing Shanghai.

Hi yes its roughly about 10 mins walk to line 2 location is not too bad neither its the best. The apartment as i had asked around is so so.Maybe if u want a better location but more pricy is 88Xintiandi residence at 380 Huangpi nan lu.Its a good choice to go around Shanghai.

Dear Rajumanu,
I note that you are from Singapore and must have secured an RCI Rental for La Residence. I am from KL, Malaysia and I too am bringing my family to La Residence from 1-8 March 2008. Have you already been there and can you give a fellow Asian traveller some head up on La Residence. What is the 2 bedroom like?? How spacious?? How far to nearest Metro station by walking and also is the Taxi station very nearby??

hi chrisk165
thank you for the post. yes we have also done an RCI exchage at the la residence and we are from singapore. however, our confirmatin is from 15th to 22nd march i.e. a week after you. looks like you will have to give me some information about your experience at that place and the surroundings.
we will be landing at the hongciao airport which is nearer to town. if you are also landing at the same airport please do and i request you to must let me know about the transfer experience from the airport to the apartment. i have read some posts about difficulty of gettig a taxi from hongciao to town. hope you will share your experience with me.
i am sure you will fare better than us as we do not speak chinese but whatever information you can pass on will be appreciated.
if you are planning to come to singapore anytime we will be pleased to help you along.
regards
rajamanu
Dear Mr. Rajamanu,
My family and I are arriving at Shanghai Pudong (PVG) airport. As such our transfers will be different from your airport. I will be very happy to share our experiences with La Residence Contract with you. I am also not proficient in chinese. I am a banana....yellow outside, white inside!
cheers

HaHahahaha!!!!Gentlemen its not that bad actually atLa residence.Though theres a bit of walking to do n a bit out of the way to some popular areas but the metro as i said is not far away .If u had make up yr mind on the La Residence i wont suggest others like the 88Xintiandi or Celebrity service apartments.Still u will have a good time at Jingan area.,quite a good area in fact though not central.SO enjoy lor n the taxi is not that difficult to get from Hongqiao airport to downtown at normal hours.Enjoy!!!
I already answered your other questions on another thread. Just wanted to add that you can get taxis just almost anywhere on the street, no need to look for a designated taxi stand. However they will NOT stop at junctions!
No there s no designated taxi stand n most taxis do stop at the junctions when theres no traffic police around cos its not legal when u flag them down n also u will have to jump in so fast when they stop for u at the junctions!!!This maneouver is only possible mainly for guys but try to avoid doin this if possible!!!
Hi there. How was your stay at La Residence? My family and I will be there on Sunday.
Also, what%26#39;a a place that can%26#39;t be missed in Shanghai?
Many thanks.
