Help with planning trip to HK

Hi my wife and I are planning a trip to HK and we are interested in what time frame we should stay. I was thinking about 12 days. My wife wants to Visit Disneyland and see all the other ';true '; sights of HK and possibley a trip into China. Any ideas or sujestions would be fantastic

Is Disney a true sight of Hong Kong? Leave that for others to answer, but I think in 12 days you could see a lot of Hong Kong as well as having a side trip to Macau.

If you wanted you could also have a short trip to China- maybe Yangshuo for a few days? See yangers.com

LOL I did not mean Disneyland was a ';true'; sight of HK, opps it sort of does read that way. Thanks for your feedback

12 days is good.

1 day for: Shenzen

1 day for: Mongkok

1 day for: Central/Sheung Wan/Wan Chai

1 day for: Causeway Bay

1 day for: Tsim Sha Tsui

1 day for: Ocean Park and Victoria Peak

1 day for: Stanley/Aberdeen/Ngong Pin/Po Lin Monastery

1 day for: Disneyland

2 days for: Macau

2 days for: New Territories

you can also visit lamma island and other islands.

If you want to get off the beaten track and see ';true'; parts of HK that are neglected by most tourists, check out the Green and Heritage sections at www.hkta.org .

IMO, there is a lot more worth seeing at Ocean Park than at Disney, but in 12 days you would have time to check out both.

What to do depends to some extent on what time of year you plan on being there - if you%26#39;re coming in high summer I won%26#39;t recommend some of my favorite hikes, for instance. Many people don%26#39;t realise that only about half of HK is built up - the other half has some beautiful scenery (my main reason for visiting HK while I was posted in Macau was to get away from urban areas :-) ).

1 day for: Shenzen (only Law Woo Shopping Mall nearby train station)

P.S if you shop there , baragin!!

For example: people saying RMB 100, say RMB 30-35!

Pretend you are leaving and they will say the price back cheaper!

1 day for: Mongkok

Shopping: (Women Street, Fa Yuen market and Running shoes in Sport Shoes AVenue)

P.S These three market are very close

Try Foot Massage: around HK100 for 45 mins

Camera, MP3, Mobilephone and electronic stuff:

Broadway and Fortress for sure!(honest, helpful and price reasonable)

Do not buy from other shop!

1 day for: Central(Soho, have a beer time there)

Sheung Wan/Wan Chai(dun know)

1 day for: Causeway Bay(Time Square for famous brand shopping)

1 day for: Tsim Sha Tsui

EAT:(Dim Sum Restaurant and all different kind of Cuisine)

Shopping:(Ocean Terminal Mall, Duty Free at Canton Road)

1 day for: Ocean Park(maybe)

and Victoria Peak (take the peak tram and dine there at night, beautiful!)

1 day for: Stanley(Just famous for tourist)

Those 3 markets that i mentioned above are way better than this!

Aberdeen(seafood on big boat i guess)

Ngong Pin(Cable car, on the way you can see the Giant Buddha).....then arrive at

Po Lin Monastery

1 day for: Disneyland(depends on you)

2 days for: Macau(a second Las Vegas)

2 days for: New Territories(if case you hv sufficient time and interested in chinese history culture)

you can also visit lamma island and other islands.

12 days would be wonderful, we had 8 and didn%26#39;t get to see everything on our list.

Head out to Sai Kung and stop at the nunnery and gardens at Diamond Hill. I have posted some photos in the ';things to do section';. Astoundingly beautiful.

One day is not enough in Macau, but it is so worth visiting.

We also loved the trip to Stanley/Aberdeen.

We were so surprised by the beautiful open areas of HK. So are our friends by our photos (we took thousands). Everyone expects it to be just high rise buildings, shopping and nothing else.

Head out to the corners of the new territories %26amp; Islands, beautiful cultural things to see. We didn%26#39;t get to Ping Shan heritage trail, Sha Tin or Lamma Island.

At least I have things to do on my next trip :-)

This was my first and definately won%26#39;t be my last, I loved it.

You didn%26#39;t say much about your interests, but I am a great fan of the museums etc. Buy a museum pass and visit as many as you can. Most of them are concentrated in Kowloon but a half hour train ride will pretty much take you to anything else, such as the Museum of coastal defence, or the teaware place. All worth a look if you%26#39;re interested in that sort of thing.

I think twelve days is a lot if it is your first time but it will definitely give you a good chance to see many of the destinations often overlooked by tourists and certainly you could take in Macau and a short trip deeper into China. That said, having been there a few times, Hong Kong is one of the few places in the world where I think I could be happy to relocate to because there is so much to see and do there.
