From Stanford Hotel, Mongkok to The Peak? Please help!

Hi all, this is our first trip to HK and i am taking my grands parents ( both 68 and 70 )with us.

I am thinking of taking the MTR from Mongkok to Central Station and than walk to The Peak Tram Terminus. Please tell me how long is the walk as i have my grands to think about. Other wise, how much it would cost from Mongkok to the Peak?

We are travelling with a family of nine, will that be easier to hire a taxi van for a day?

It%26#39;s about a 10-15 minute walk from the MTR to the Peak Tram terminal, depending on your walking speed. Part of it is going uphill, and maybe challenging to the elderly.

Alternatively, you can take any bus on Nathan Road to Star Ferry, then cross the harbour to Central. When you reach the Central Pier, take bus 15C (sometimes run by open top bus) to the Peak Tram Terminus. It%26#39;ll be less walking than up and down the MTR, and a more scenic ride.

Thanks Glacierfed. When you mentioned ';Central Pier';, do you mean ';Star Ferry piers';?

Yes, I meant the Star Ferry pier in Central.

Also, when I said any bus on Nathan Road, I meant the ones with destination ';Star Ferry';. Routes 1, 1A, 2, 6, 6A, etc. have stops all along Nathan Road.

Do get an Octopus Card for each person when you arrive in HK. Seniors and children under 12 can get special cards which allow discounted fares. You can use them on buses, ferries, trams, etc., and also to pay for purchases at convenience stores and fast food places.

Sorry I don%26#39;t know of any hired van services. But it%26#39;s easy to get everywhere on public transit.
