I%26#39;m trying to fly from either Xiamen or Guangzhou to Guilin. What is the best way to buy tickets? A few days in advance while in China, over the internet, or through a travel agent overseas? If internet, can anyone recommend a website?
About how much would a one way ticket cost? Which city would have more flights to Guilin?
A lot of questions, I know. Thanks for the help!
Internal flights within ChinaUse a site such as elong.net to check fares. You can also book through them - but can be a pain with faxing of credit cards and passports.
Instead, maybe book in China through hotels or agents. Usually no problem even booking a couple of days before the flight - still cheap tickets and seats.
Internal flights within ChinaI used ctrip.com to book domestic flights. I haven%26#39;t flown yet, but the purchase process was quite easy. They take credit cards and issue e-tickets so no need to arrange pick up.
Yes both internet sites for booking are good but I had experience difficult doing online with Ctrip to accept foreign credit card when coming to issuing the ticket. However you may have to call the hotline to help on this.
Had not booked thru elong as Ctrip for S china trips offers are better esp for Southern China airlines fares and schedules.
Plse do consider going to Yangshou fron Guilin taking the very scenic cruise ride 4 hrs down the lijiang river. There is very good forum here for Yangshuo and a must go when in Guilin.
Read the Yonger website mentioned in this forum for Yangshuo.
Also mentioned to take the cheaper local chinese cruise without interpreter. It is half the foreigner cruise rate. Lunch is simple package food but can order from the menu and may not to your taste. Suggest before trip or pick up from hotel, take a cab ride to Guilin main square to buy Mcdonald food for your lunch. It is open 24 hrs.
On board there are professional photographer offering to take photos at many scenic point.
When there is announcement i.e for those paid to assmeble for photo taking thence you just follow up at the upper deck to take yours. But dont forget the digicam
I have flown a lot there. I usually shop on e-long or ctrip to check my options and prices then go to the travel office at the hotel to buy the ticket I chose (same price). Every hotel can do this and if you have a problem or want to change flight it is much easier to do than trying to deal with the online vendors again.
Guangzhou would be better.
