My first trip to Beijing will be during the Olympics this year. I am sure the Great Wall will be completely overrun with tourists. I am torn between Simatai and Mutianyu. My lingering question is.... Do both sections have toilet facilities. I read that Mutianyu does, but nothing about Simatai. Are there facilities along the Jinshanling-Simatai hike? Any help is appreciated.

No toilet facilities on Jinshanling-Simatai, just go wherever and whenever you feel like it.

Hi Michelle,
We hired a driver and went to Simatai. It was fantastic and the views are amazing. We did not see any toilet facilities (maybe they had something in a restaurant but if so, I would guess it would be a ';squat'; toilet.). Be prepared for some steep steps in some sections but it is a nice, less touristy section. There are some people trying to sell items (tshirts, chopstick sets, drinks, food, etc) so if u want to buy something while u r there, u will have some options. Enjoy! We loved our visit to Beijing!
